On A Mission: LA-based Vaishnavi Padmanathan Wants To Write Stories That Make People Seen

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 17: LA-based writer, Vaishnavi Padmanathan revealed her first experience of writing a story. Vaishnavi shared one of her earliest memories of writing where she won a storytelling competition at the age of three, which planted the seed for her passion for writing. Her child-like passion for this skill continues to date with polished skills from her academic and professional endeavours. Vaishnavi pursued her Bachelor’s in Mass Media from Mumbai University before moving to New York to graduate from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University with a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing. She has worked in both the Indian film and American TV industries, which Vaishnavi discovered led to a lot of revelations about the kind of stories she wants to write, especially the truths of many women like her.

The source of Vaishnavi’s passion for writing comes from her personal truths that she has realized over time. Vaishnavi stated, “I think being vulnerable in my work is how I connect with the audience. All the writers I look up to including Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Lulu Wang have time and again shown how speaking one’s truth can be so powerful and at the same time entertaining.”

Revealing the secret behind her creative process, Vaishnavi is a stickler for outlining her stories before she starts the actual writing on her computer. Appreciating the art of finetuning her stories, Vaishnavi acknowledged that the one thing that is absolutely necessary for her is to outline the story she is writing. Be it writing a TV episode or a feature, breaking scenes down with what the protagonist wants and what she want as a writer, and checking if both are aligning is a great starting point for Vaishnavi before she embarks on a journey with her character. Her previous work has been with being credited in ‘Oh! Baby,’ a Telugu film, and her work is featured in ‘Searching for the Good’, an audio play made during COVID lockdown times about COVID.

She is currently working for a preschool animated show that is scheduled to be on air sometime soon. Although she could not reveal much about this project as it is still in development, she acknowledged the amount of research that goes into making stories that kids watch, appreciating the talented team of creatives she got to work with that helped her have an enriching experience.

Vaishnavi is a young and motivated writer, who wants to tell stories that are inclusive and authentic. Concluding the interview, Vaishnavi noted her future goals, saying, “My goal is to keep growing more and more as a screenwriter and writer as I don’t want to limit the worlds I create on pages. I want to make sure I never become complacent and keep pushing myself forward. I am young and excited, with a lot of stories to tell so I will keep working hard and keep getting inspired by the absolute joy I get when I get to tell my stories to the world.”

India’s Sleep Snore Card by Centuary Mattresses on World Sleep Day reveals 85% of people have woken up from sleep due to their partner’s snoring

Other interesting revelations of the survey:

7 in 10 married couples recognize that their partner’s snoring bothers them
7 in 10 couples have also recorded their partner’s snoring
32% of married couples have compared their partner’s snoring to the sound of a motorcycle

National, 17 March: To adjudge and evaluate how Indians perceive the importance of sleep quality, Centuary Mattresses, a leading mattress brand in India, conducted a comprehensive survey on the occasion of World Sleep Day. The theme for World Sleep Day for 2023 is ‘Sleep Is Essential for Health’. The survey revealed that 70% of respondents are bothered by their partner’s snoring.

As per India’s Sleep Snore Card survey, about 7 in 10 couples have ended up waking up their partners at least once in the same sleep cycle due to snoring. Around 7 in 10, couples have also recorded their partner’s snoring, and 32% of married couples feel that their partner’s snoring is similar to the sound of a motorcycle.

India’s Sleep Snore Card survey was conducted among more than 2700 respondents in the age group 27 to 50 years from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Patna, and Guwahati.

The survey highlighted that 67% of the respondents felt that snoring could be linked with a tired day of work and has little link with health considerations and sleep quality. Furthermore, around 45% of people linked snoring with obesity. There were other factors, such as most people (around 55%) believing that snoring can be tackled with simple remedies without changing the surroundings.

However, many factors showed how Indians have started to look at the importance of sleep quality through mutual discussions to change their lifestyles and sleeping habits. For instance, 36% of the people acknowledged the importance of having the correct mattress and pillow for sound sleep. Also, 71% of people agreed to talk about the snoring issue with their partners.

The importance of sleep quality and the negative impact of snoring on an individual’s health has been agreed upon by the medical fraternity.

Commenting on the outcomes of the survey, Uttam Malani, Executive Director at Centuary Mattresses, said, “The survey results are a wake-up call for people to take sleep issues such as snoring seriously as it can impact both health issues and interpersonal relationships. Poor quality of sleep and its impact on health and interpersonal relationships are ignored, which can have long-term implications. With this survey on World Sleep Day, our goal is to increase awareness about the issues plaguing people’s sleep. We are doing our bit in helping people sleep better by providing them with good sleep enabling products with *antimicrobial treated mattresses and pillows* to improve sleep quality”[aP6]

Commenting on the myths related to snoring and quality sleep, Dr.Jagdish Chaturvedi, Nose, and Sinus Surgeon in Bengaluru, said, “The survey clearly shows that more people are aware of their sleep issues such as snoring problem and accepting it as well. It is high time that people start addressing this problem with doctor interventions. In the long term, not taking the doctor’s advice on snoring can have other health implications.”

Centuary Products are antimicrobial treated which is approved by the National Health Academy making its quality better for sleep requirements.

Apart from the generic habits, the survey helped understand how people ignore the critical value of surroundings for a comfortable sleep. The survey also suggested that women from Tier II cities have a more comfortable sleep as compared to other respondents.

With a legacy spanning over 3 decades, Centuary Mattress, popularly known as India’s Sleep Specialist, is India’s fastest-growing mattress brand and the veritable pioneer of the comfort bedding industry in India. With its roots in Hyderabad; Centuary constantly innovated and established itself as a front-runner in the mattress space while exponentially expanding its product range and geographical footprint. Origin and AU Group announce their partnership

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 17: Origin, a leading trade credit insurance provider in India, and AU Group – the world’s leading independent broker specialized in trade receivables, headquartered in Paris – today announced a strategic partnership. This partnership marks an important milestone for both companies:   and it will enable Origin to provide a wider range of insurance products and services to its customers and AU Group will extend its geographical scope and service capabilities.

Trade credit insurance has become increasingly important in India, given the volatile nature of the global economy. The partnership will enable Origin to offer a comprehensive range of trade credit insurance products and services to its customers, including coverage for political risk, non-payment, bankruptcy, and insolvency and this is aligned with the AU Group’s development strategy.

According to recent industry reports, the penetration of trade credit insurance in India is low, with less than 5% of Indian Corporates taking out such policies to mitigate their trade risks – domestic and exports. This is in sharp contrast to developed economies where trade credit insurance penetration rates are much higher and part of the sales process. This low penetration can be attributed to a lack of awareness and understanding of the benefits of trade credit insurance among Indian Corporates, as well as a limited availability of such products in the Indian market.

With AU Groups’ expertise in Trade Credit Insurance, Political Risks and Surety Bonds as well as and Origin’s strong presence in India, the partnership is poised to deliver innovative and comprehensive solutions to the Indian market.

AU Group CEO, Vivien de Lassée, said, “We are delighted to partner with Origin to expand our presence in the Indian market. Our partnership with Origin will enable us to leverage their strong market position and offer our comprehensive range of innovative trade credit insurance solutions to businesses in India. We are confident that this partnership will be mutually beneficial and help us to further strengthen our position in the region.”

Gerald Lim, Chairman AU Group Asia said, “Origin is a well-established specialist broker led by Umang Rathod, an experienced and respected practitioner, and we look forward to working closely together “.
