Assam: Thousands of tribal people held rally against anti-conversion and delisting of ST status

Guwahati: More than 55,000 tribal people from 30 districts of Assam participated in the massive rally organised by Janajati Dharm-Sanskriti Suraksa Manch, Assam Pradesh against anti-conversion and delisting of ST status at Khanapara Veterinary field in Guwahati on Sunday.

People wearing their traditional dresses and carrying folk musical instruments participated in the rally.

In the beginning of the program Tribal rituals were performed by Boro, karbi, Tiwa, Dimasha, Rabha and Mising tribe.

After the rituals Bogiram Boro, president of JDSSM, Assam Pradesh hoisted the flag.

More than ten tribal folk dance troops performed their original folk dances during the program.

The program was graced by nation level officials like- Surya Narayan Suri Ji- Akhil Bharatiya Sangathan Mantri- JSM; Satyendra Singh -Invited Speaker, JSM Central Observer; Prakash Singh Uikeji- Social Worker- and Executive Member JSM, MP; Ravindra Uike- Social Worker- and Executive Member JSM, MP.

Community speakers Babita Brahma(Boro), Pratap Terang(Karbi), Tarun Chandra Rabha (rabha) and Kameswar Pator (Tiwa )were also delivered speeches on conversion taking in the respective tribal communities.

The objectives of the massive Tribal rally are:

To Delist Converted ST’s who completely given up their original tribal culture, customs, rituals, way of life and traditions after conversion.

Stop unethical conversion
Demanding Amendment of Article 342 for ST and equalize with Article 341 for Scheduled Caste (if any SC person being converted to any other religion, automatically the person get DE-listed from SC reservation).

Separate memorandums will be sending to President and the Prime Minister of India via Governor of Assam at the earliest.

Seminar held on ‘Trends in Higher Education in the context of NEP 2020 in Assam

DIBRUGARH: One day seminar on ‘Trends in Higher Education in the context of NEP 2020 in Assam’ held today at the Srimanta Sankardeva Sabhakakhya of DSHK College.

The programme was organised by Girijananda Choudhury University, Azara, Guwahati in collaboration with DHSK College, Dibrugarh.

Speaking on the occasion as the keynote speaker Prof. Alak Kr. Buragohain, former Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University and Chancellor, Girijananda Chouhury University, Azara, Guwahati said that NEP 2020 had given us the opportunity to look back at the traditional knowledge system and the opportunity in liberating the minds in a democratic country.

He further emphasised that life with values and purpose; and livelihood are the purpose of education, which would be possible through multidisciplinary, innovative, ethical and flexible education system in NEP 2020.

Before the speech Dinalisha Bora, assistant professor, department of Botany introduced Prof Alak. Kr. Buragohain. At the beginning Dr. Anup Jyoti Bharali, Coordinator, IQAC stated the objectives of the seminar. Dr. Pranjal Kumar Phukan, Chief Manager, BCPL, Dibrugarh inaugurated the session by lighting the lamp.

After a brief introduction to Dr. Pranjal Kr. Phukan by Dr. Pallavi Gogoi, Librarian, DHSK college, Dr. Phukan deliverd his speech in which he emphasised on institutions being autonomous to survive during NEP 2020 and asked the students to go for technology based education.

Earlier Dr. Sashikanta Saikia , Principal ,DHSK College welcomed the partcipants and guests and in his speech Dr Saikia said that collaborative effort of group of institutions would be able to bring success to the colleges during NEP 2020.

Dr. Lulu M. Borgohain, assistant professor, Department of English compered the complete session. Prof. Gopal, Ch. Hazarika, Prof. (Retd.), department of Mathematics, Dibrugarh University was the resource person of the session and delivered his lecture on Implementation of NEP 2020. Dr. Henrieta huda, Asst.

Professor, department of English introduced prof Hazarika to the participants. Prof. Hazarika enlightened the participants with various issues related to levels of education, system of education, multidisciplinary and holistic approach related to NEP 2020 along with the responsibilities of teachers and institutions to prepare themselves for implementation of NEP 2020.

Dr. Kankan Kishore Pathak ,assistant professor, Mechanical Engineering department and Ranadeep Borgohain, assistant professor , Pharmaceutical Chemistry, department of Pharmacy; both from the Girijananda Choudhury University shared their thoughts and interacted with the participants.

Assam: Sarbananda Sonowal attentds Sonowal Kachari Youth Festival & Cultural Festival

Guwahati: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal attended the Uddipana Award Ceremony as the Chief Guest held at the Sonowal Kachari Youth Festival & Cultural Festival, 2023 in upper Assam Dibrugarh on Saturday.

The Union Minister spoke about celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Sonowal Kachari and share it with the wider audience but, at the same time, appreciated the effort by the event for providing a platform for the youth to upscale their talent & help them embark on the entrepreneurial journey in the quest to make India an Atmanirbhar country by 2047.

Sarbananda Sonowal said, “We all acknowledge the unwavering commitment and handwork of youth of India is behind India’s success as a global start up hub. As India embarks on its auspicious journey of Amrit Kaal, it’s a moment to make new commitments. Setting up 26,000 new startups is an achievement coveted by many nations worldwide, and India has successfully accomplished this feat. The credit goes to the strength and aspirations of the youth of India, who have not only linked their dreams with the needs of the nation but have also aligned them with its hopes and aspirations. The youth of India today possess a strong sense of ownership towards nation-building, and are driven by the belief that it is their responsibility to lead the way.”

 The Union Minister also handed over Uddipana Award to Mousum Sonowal of Dibrugarh, Panchami Sonowal of Dhemaji, Sania Dekari of Tinisukia, Tanmay Sonowal of Tinisukia, Ditimani Sonowal of Dhemaji for making significant achievement in their respective fields. A book by the title ‘Sonowal Sambhar’ was also inaugurated by Sarbananda Sonowal.

The book is a memorial which was published on the occasion of Sonowal Kachari Youth & Cultural festival. The four day festival is organised by Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council and is being held at Halali Samannay Kshetra, DuliaDainijan in Dibrugarh.

The theme of the festival is “Welfare of the Youth and Cultural Heritage” with an aim to highlight welfare activities planned for the protection, education and skill development for youth to become economically independent and become active agents of nation building. With rich display of cultural heritage of Sonowal Kachari community, the festival also aims weave a multi-coloured among different communities of Assam.

Assam: Sonowal reiterates ‘Intent’ for success, highlights ‘Hard Work’ as key factor

Guwahati:  The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal handed over the 4th Sons of the Soil award for 2022 to five individuals who made their mark in their respective fields of profession.

The recipients are Bandita Baruah for Arts & Culture, Udit Gogoi for Sports, Diganta Saikia & Vardaan Saikia for their entrepreneurial venture; Dr Manabendra Saharia for Professional category and Mitali Konwar on the Media Professional category.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also presented the Kishori Mohan Das Memorial Social Sector Development Award to Dr Puniram Patar, who is the first physician from the Tiwa community. After serving people for more than three decades, Dr Patar continued to serve people through organising free health check camps and extending medical support to people affected by the floods.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be present here today with all these wonderful personalities whose contribution to the society has made a positive impact on our lives. I feel humbled to have the opportunity to hand over this wonderful award in recognition of their invaluable work towards making a positive impact in the society. Bandita Baruah (Art & Culture): Bandita Baruah became very popular with the song “Phool Phulibor Botor Ahil” from the film “Bonoriya Phool”, recorded online during COVID lockdown. Trained by her father Aseem Barua, Bandita is popular for her rendition of old Assamese songs, and so far, has recorded over 200 songs from old Assamese movies and original tracks. She is currently pursuing MA in Assamese from Gauhati University.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says Rahul Gandhi intentionally abused OBC community

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intentionally abused the OBC community of the country.

Speaking to reporters in Guwahati on Saturday, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a election speech in Karnataka abused the OBC community intentionally. He should rendered his apology to the community but he didn’t apologised to the community for his statement, which shows the arrogance of a leader,”.

“Rahul Gandhi is not held guilty by government of India. He was convicted by court of law for his unparliamentary speech against a community. In his speech he(Rahul Gandhi) used unparliamentary, defamatory word against the OBC community. Court has held him guilty for his statement,” Sarma stated.

Sarma further added, “He (Rahul Gandhi) should rendered apology after the statement. But he didn’t do that. Mistakes can happened with everyone. Sometimes due to slip of tongue we also made mistake but immediately we rendered apology. After a prolonged judiciary process of five years he was held guilty,”.

“I am a believer of Hindu philosophy, where their is say that “Karma strikes you back”. Rahul Gandhi can challenged the cour verdict to higher court. If a whole community was dragged then it was obvious that you have to faced the wrath,” Assam CM stated.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha on Friday, a day after being convicted to two years in jail in a defamation case over his ‘Modi surname’ remark in 2019. The notification came hours after Gandhi came to the Lok Sabha on Friday morning.

Assam: Our Women our Pride- A paradigm shift in entrepreneurial mindset amongst women in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, MAR 25: Gone are the days when women remained confined to their houses engrossed in house-hold chores Now-a-days, women have started looking for a forum to showcase their innate talent in various fields.

One such field is entrepreneurship where more and more women have started making their presence felt and contributing to the GDP of the country. In this context the women folks of Dibrugarh district is no exception.

This very characteristic of the Gen X, Millenials and Gen –Z women encouraged the present Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises,Assam , Bimal Borah to explore avenues to provide these emerging women a platform where they could be skilled properly to help them launch their chosen ventures- from setting up of live stocks farming like piggery, goat farming, fishery to candle making, pickles making and other food processing units at micro level.

Accordingly , almost 2000 boys and girls, men and women were provided hands-on training by experts from National Pig Research Centre,Rani,Guwahati, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship ,Guwahati, KVK, Dibrugarh, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, National Small Industries Corporation Ltd.,Guwahati, Dabur India Ltd, Tezpur,Sonitpur, Pattanjali Ayurveda Ltd.,Tezpur ,Sonitpur and Berger Paints India Ltd.,Nagaon, to name a few, during the recently concluded exhibition cum sales fair at Rajgarh,Dibrugarh held in December,2022.

While speaking to reporters, Bimal Bora said, “Having trained them for 5 days by various domain experts I realized that these women do possess the forte and mojo to usher in tremendous economic changes to society if given proper hand-holding support and more advanced hands-on training on their chosen business line. I selected 40 such budding women entrepreneurs from amongst the above trainees and divided them in to two groups of 20 each. One group was given hands on training on decorative candle making and the other on jam, jelly, pickles etc. making , for one month , by experts from National Small Industries Corporation Ltd.,Guwahati. The training expenses, including raw materials , was borne by NSIC Ltd.,Guwahati”.

An exhibition , solely of the products like decorative candle, pickles etc. produced during the training period by these 40 women was organized on 25th March,2023 at Zila Parishad Bhawan,Rajgarh,Dibrugarh.

Inaugurating the exhibition Bimal Borah said, “This exhibition, solely for the products produced during training period by these women, has been orgainsed to help them learn the dynamics of market. Life blood of an industry is its market; industry and market form virtuous cycle. Industry without market is not sustainable. Hence I decided to organize an exhibition solely for the products produced by these women entrepreneurs during their training period. To connect them with the market I have invited all the traders of Rajgarh town and requested them to find ways to sell the products through their own outlets and explore ways to ensure an outreach to places like Guwahati, Tinsukia,Tezpur, Jorhat etc. I have already advised Morgan Meston, General Manager, District Industries Centre,Dibrugarh to arrange small loans under MUDRA scheme for these entrepreneurs . Once these units are set up at miniature level, for further up-gradation they can be assisted under schemes like PMEGP and PMFME . Meston has been proactively following up with the banks to get these loans sanctioned at the earliest. All in all, this initiative seems to have paid off . It is a harbinger of hope and aspiration for Gen X,Millenials and Gen Z women entrepreneurs. Pan Assam the exhibition organized at Rajgarh, Dibrugarh with its accrued benefits derived through these follow up training programmes has become famous as Rajgarh Model . I would like to replicate this model in other districts of the State too for greater benefit of our people”.

Near Intelligence Holdings Inc. and KludeIn I Acquisition Corp. Announce Closing of Business Combination
