Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], February 22: One of the three largest emergencies that can claim lives is ‘Strokes’.  It has been reported that around 600 cases are registered for stroke every day in the state of Gujarat. Out of 15 lakh estimated stroke cases reported in India annually, Gujarat has a major share. Gender-wise, while men who are heavy consumers of junk food, alcohol and smoking are at high risk, women post-menopause are at a vulnerable risk. Stroke is also attributed to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, consumption of excessive junk food, high cholesterol, alcohol intake and smoking. India records approximately 15% of stroke incidences in youth below the age of 40 years in strokes.

‘Reaching the right hospital at the right time for the right treatment’ is a crucial component in changing the outcome of what could have been to what has been achieved. Around 4000 stroke cases happen daily, and not more than even 2 to 3 percent are treated. India currently accounts for 60 percent of stroke patients worldwide. Less than 1 in 4 Indians are aware of stroke symptoms. About three million people die due to strokes each year. Globally, about 6% of all deaths from stroke occur in people 15-49 years old. There are 69 million people living who have experienced a stroke. Over 143 million years of healthy life are lost each year due to disability and deaths following a stroke. One in six people is at risk of experiencing a stroke. It is about time that awareness arms people to react quickly in such conditions.

DIBRUGARH, FEB 22: A Ulfa (I) cadre was surrendered before Dibrugarh police on Wednesday.

The cadre  has  been identified as Bikramjit Chetia alias Bikram Gogoi alias Ranjit Asom had deserted the Ulfa camp and surrendered before Dibrugarh police.

A team of Chabua police went near the Assam-Arunachal in Tinsukia district and brought the cadre to Dibrugarh.

Bikram Gogoi is a resident of Chabua, Dibrugarh and he joined Ulfa(I) in 2019.

Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, Dibrugarh superintendent of police Shwetank  Mishra said, “Bikram Gogoi’s family members contacted us that he want to return to home. We have prepared and send a police team from Chabua to brought him back. He was brought back to Dibrugarh and we have started our interogation. We have sent the papers of his surrender to Guwahati police  headquater  for their approval,”.

Bikram Gogoi joined Ulfa(I) in 2019 and since then he was in Ulfa(I) camp at Myanmar.

Meanwhile, many Ulfa(I) cadres and leaders have return back to mainstream to lead a normal life.

“We don’t know why he return from Ulfa(I) camp. We have started our interogation process. Till now we cannot divulge much details on him,” said Mishra.

Sources claim that the Ulfa(I) cadre was also involved in the recent extortion case wherein Ulfa(I) cadre Udai Axom was Rupam Axom’s (extortion specialist) right hand man.

Surat (Gujarat) [India], February 22: Institute of Design and Technology (IDT), a Surat-based fashion institution, collaborated with the Sarvajanik University to organize a fashion parade at the public carnival to spread awareness on burning social issues such as unity in diversity, fight against rape, gender equality at the workplace, and animal rescue on February 15.

Tens of hundreds of students from seven affiliated colleges of Sarvajanik University participated in the sarvajanik carnival and fashion parade depicting the development and fashion awareness in Surat. Students from seven colleges affiliated with Sarvajanik University—BRCM, SCOPA, SCCCA, IDPT, SCL, SRKI, and SCET—raised awareness on diverse topics such as unity in diversity, rape prevention, gender equality at work, animal care, and so on through the fashion parade led by IDT.

Surat’s renowned design institute IDT trained, mentored, and prepared the pupils. The panellists were IDT Director Ankita Goyal, Gujarat-based fashion designer Sangeeta Choksi, Mumbai-based fashion stylist Nikki Deol, fashion design instructor Kritika Sadhwani, and Natasha Dhaneriano.
