Guwahati, Mar 6: Union MoS Rameswar Teli on Monday visited the erosion affected Koli ghat area in Assam’s Dibrugarh to take stock of the situation.

Teli accompanied with BJP leaders visited the affected area and assured for all help to control the erosion.

Talking to media persons, Rameswar Teli said, “The erosion has been started in the area for last 15 days but it heavily affected the area on Saturday. A total of 220 meters of land were washed away into the river due to massive erosion. Three types of geo-bags were used to control the massive erosion,”.

“The Water Resource minister Pijush Hazarika already directed the department to take immediate measure to control the erosion. The mega bag technology was used to control the marauding erosion,” Teli added.

He further added, “The historic Dibrugarh town is under threat due to the massive erosion huge swath of land mass were washed away into the river. The Water Resource department has been working to control the erosion and if need, we talk to New Delhi for protection measures,”.

The DTP dyke is just less than 10 meters away from the erosion area. Massive erosion has affected huge land mass behind Dibrugarh Gurudwara area since Saturday.

According to experts, the river course of Brahmaputra has been changed suddenly is one of the reason of the massive erosion.

Guwahati: BJP leader Manik Saha set to continue as Tripura chief minister even as some BJP legislature are in favour of replacing him.

According to sources, a section of BJP legislatures are in favour of Pratima Bhowmik who has won the Dhanpur seat.

Bhowmik is a central minister but she consted the Tripura assembly polls from Dhanpur constituency which was known as a Left bastion.

Sources said Manik Saha will contunue as Tripura chief minister. A legislature meeting held on Monday and al the BJP party members unanimously agreed to nominate Saha as chief minister.

Saha was a member of the Congress till 2016, when he moved over to the BJP. He eventually became the president of the party’s Tripura unit after Deb quit in 2020.

BJP stems from his clean image and his track record which includes crafting BJP’s victory in all thirteen civic bodies in the polls held in November 2021 in Tripura at a time when TMC was engaged in a turf war with the saffron party.

In 2021, the top brass of BJP selected Manik Saha as the chief minister of Tripura. From Biplab Kumar Deb, he took over the chiefministership of Tripura.

Manik Saha, former badminton player of repute in the state. He is also the President of Tripura Cricket Association, and is a maxillofacial surgeon by profession, having graduated from King George Medical College of Lucknow.

Manik Saha defeated vetern congress leader Ashish Kumar Saha by a margin of 1257 votes from Town Bardowali constituency.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 6:  U2 Challengers emerged as the winner of the CAIT YE Cricket Carnival 2023, capping a perfect campaign that was aimed at paying tributes to a close friend and a fellow cricket lover.

U2 Challengers, owned by Amal Gandhi and Smit Thakkar, scored a comfortable victory over Space X Riders in the final. Batting first, Space X Riders managed to score 87 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 18 overs. U2 Challengers overcame the target in the 14th over at the loss of just four wickets to etch their name on the winner’s trophy. What followed was not jubilation or celebration but highly emotional scenes as Amal Gandhi recounted the story of U2 Challengers and his friendship with Ujjwal Bhatt.

“I had purchased the team only to pay tribute to my close friend Ujjwal Bhatt, who passed away at the age of 34 in December. The team was also named after him, as he was popularly known as U2. Ujjwal and I played cricket together for many years before his sudden passing away. I thought participating in this tournament would be a perfect tribute to him. I am happy that we could win the tournament for him,” said Mr Gandhi.

Some of the other players in the U2 Challengers team also knew Ujjwal Bhatt and had played cricket with him.

“More than winning, the team played in the tournament for emotional reasons. Maybe this was why our chemistry, coordination and body language was different from the other teams, and maybe this is why we won. I dedicate the victory and trophy to Ujjwal,” Mr Gandhi said further.

Everyone present on occasion, including the losing finalists, the other teams, and the audience, had tears in their eyes when the winner’s trophy was handed over to Ujjwal Bhatt’s four-year-old son Aumansh. Brijesh Jardosh was named the best batsman of the tournament.

Among the women’s teams, Purefect Panthers scored an easy victory over Shagun Stars in the final match. Batting first, Purefect Panthers scored 86 runs for the loss of two wickets in the allotted 12 overs. In response, Shagun Stars could manage only 67 runs for the loss of six wickets. Palna Shah of Purefect Panthers was named woman of the series.

A total of ten men’s teams and four women’s teams participated in the CAIT YE Cricket Carnival 2023, organised by CAIT Young Entrepreneurs, the youth wing of Confederation of all India Traders (CAIT). The tournament took place at MK Farm Cricket Ground in Bhadaj from March 1 to 5.
