Surat (Gujarat) [India], March 18: The city-based Preksha Seva Foundation celebrated Gujarat Pradesh BJP President CR Patil’s 69th birthday by opening Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts for about 100 girl children.

Preksha Seva Foundation, a non-profit organisation in Surat, commemorated the birthday of BJP President CR Patil by spreading the light of service through various social activities. At an event held at Mehndipur Balaji Temple in Vesu Bharathana, Surat, the Foundation deposited Rs 1,000 in each of the 100 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts of the 100 girl children.

Rashmi Saboo, municipal ward number 22 councillor and Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) Standing Committee Member, said the programme was held at Mehndipur Balaji Temple in Vesu Bharathana on behalf of the Preksha Seva Foundation. On this occasion, Navsari MP and Gujarat BJP State President CR Patil, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, and MLA Sandeep Desai were invited.

“Around 100 girls benefited from Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana through Preksha Seva Foundation,” Saboo said. The Foundation opened accounts in the Bank of Baroda under this scheme and deposited one thousand rupees in each account.”

It is worth noting that the Preksha Seva Foundation has been providing continuous service to the community for many years. Prior to the event, programmes were held to inform people about the widow assistance scheme, health checkup camps, assistance to the disabled, government schemes, and so on.

Jharkhand (India), March 18: With an aim to nudge individuals and community action to protect and preserve the environment. Mission LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment comes forward in changing individual and community behaviour to have a significant impact on the environment and climate crises. One of the key approaches of Mission LiFE is to focus on Individual Behaviours through mass movement (Jan Andolan) by focusing on behaviours and attitudes of individuals and communities. As the call to action of Mission LiFE is to adopt a Lifestyle for Environment, it seeks a responsible behaviour from an individual towards the effective and optimum utilisation of resources and thus exhibiting a profound respect for the environment.

The Ministry of Rural Development has taken a stride in collaborating with ETPA Foundation for Social Development, New Delhi to complement the objectives of Mission LiFE across the country. ETPA Foundation has a comprehensive developmental approach with a prime objective to create and support result-oriented activities through innovation, collaboration, and convergence to address the pressing social issues of the community.

Mission LiFE was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in Gujarat on 20th October 2022 with an aim to mobilize the citizens to take individual and collective action for protecting and preserving the environment in the period 2022-27 as well as make at least of 80% of villages and urban local bodies to become environmentally friendly by 2028. There are 75 individual LiFE actions across 7 categories identified under this Mission.

StoryTelling Sessions in the SAGY Gram Panchayats of Jharkhand with Mottainai Grandma

ETPA Foundation introduces the concept and values of Mottainai Grandma in schools through storytelling sessions and other activities. The spirit of Mission LiFE is echoed by the concept of Mottainai which conveys a sense of regret over waste and encompasses the spirit of the 4 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Respect the environment. Storytelling sessions were conducted by Storyteller on efficient and effective utilisation of water, minimising food wastage, swacchata actions (wastes reduced), etc. Storytelling is the original form of teaching and has the potential of fostering emotional intelligence and helping the child gain insight into human behavior.

Keeping this concept at the core, the model Gram Panchayats under the ambit of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) are being benefited with the appropriate and strategic communication interventions focussing on influencing behaviors and attitudes of individuals and communities towards environment and resources. In view of this,  the first joint visit was conducted in the state of Jharkhand from 09th -11th March 2023 in Ranchi, Khunti, and Lohardaga districts. According to Mr. Bhattacharjee, the concept of Mottainai has the innate potential of not only developing a sense of respect for the resources and peers but also it could bring in a transformational change in the behavior of the children and the society towards resources, especially those belonging to the public.

The StoryTelling sessions which were conducted in Jharkhand amongst the children and the community were praised by all. The children enjoyed the sessions and took the pledge of respecting the resources and thus making the best and most efficient use of them.

Guwahati, Mar 17: The prime accused in the Assam HSLC exam paper leak case, Kumud Rajkhowa was surrendered before police at North Lakhimpur police station on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, Rajkhowa, the headmaster of Dafalakata High School in Lakhimpur district surrendered following a call by Assam Police DGP GP Singh.

The All Assam Students’ Union(AASU) on Friday staged protest across Assam and burnt the effigy of education minister Ranuj Pegu and demand resignation of the minister.

On Thursday, police arrested another accused in the paper leak case in the Lakhimpur district. Police said Pranab Dutta, officer-in-charge of the Lohit-Khabolu High school examination centre in Lakhimpur district was arrested while he tried to escape in a boat to Majuli.

Assam CID stated that both Rajkhowa and Dutta were directly involved in leaking General science and Assamese question papers for the ongoing HSLC Exam conducted by the Secondary Education Board of Assam(SEBA).

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and SEBA officials especially Chairman RC Jain came under fire after the question papers of two subjects of the ongoing exams were leaked.

Guwahati, Mar, 17: The Dibrugarh police on Thursday arrested former MLA from Naharkatia Naren Sonowal for allegedly being involved in illegal gambling activities from Boiragimoth area in upper Assam Dibrugarh.

Six more persons were also arrested along with Naren Sonowal who were allegedly involved in gambling.

The other accused have been identified as Mukul Ghosh, Mehroz Ahmed, Dipendra Dutta, Ritwik Baruah, Abdul Rashid and Dipak Ranjan.

Talking to media persons on Friday, Dibrugarh police station officer in charge Raju Bahadur Chetry said, “After getting specific information, we have raised a house at the Boiragimoth and arrested seven persons who were found indulging in illegal gambling activities,”.

“We have recovered a huge number of materials used for gambling besides Rs 96,500 cash. We have also seized a car, and two motorcycles used by the accused. We have registered a case 150/2023 at the Dibrugarh police station,” he said.

He said, “All of them were forwarded to court,”. Naren Sonowal was a former AGP MLA from Naharkatia.

DIBRUGARH, MAR 17: The Dibrugarh Ladies Club conferred Joymati Award 2023 to Padmashree Hemoprova Chutia at Dibrugarh Gymkhana Club on Friday.

The award has been given to woman weaver Hemoprova Chutia, who has exalted her skills to recreate and weave the sacred text in Sanskrit, Assamese and the English language.

The Joymati Award – 2023 with a citation and a cash amount of ₹11000 was presented to her in a function organised at Dibrugarh Gymkhana Club.

This award has been instituted by the Ladies Club of Dibrugarh in 1987 to honour the Women of Assam for the contribution in the field of art and culture, music, sports, cinema, commerce and social work etc.

The motive behind giving this award is to encourage the women of Assam and to recognise their work and talent.

Speaking on the ocassion, Hemoprova Chutia said, “I am happy to received the award conferred to me by Dibrugarh Ladies Club. I am overwhelmed and have no words to express. I got inspiration from the people to do the work for which government has given me the Padmashree award,”

“Its a love for the people of Assam which inspired me to do the work. From 2013, I took the work of weaving and till now, I am engage in this work and want to do more works if people supports me,” she stated.

Chutia said, “I got support from my family and I thanked them them for the support. My work is for the people of Assam which should be preserved. For the preservatin of my work I am constructing a building where all the works would be preserved,”.

She previously wove the Bhagavad Gita a 700-verse Hindu scripture in Sanskrit that is part of the Mahabharata into silk. The master weaver had completed this task following complete traditional rituals.

Another of her noteworthy works was the weaving of the entire Bhagavad Gita in the English language into a piece of cloth 280 feet in length and 2 feet wide. This project took her more than two years to complete.

Hemoprova Chutia also weaved the Naam Ghosa created in the 16th century into one of her creations. But her most noteworthy creations in the weaving of the complete Gunamala were authored by the Assamese Saint Srimanta Shankardev on a custom piece using cotton and woollen fabrics. The important part is that she is not weaving the Assamese version of the text, but also the translated Hindi and English versions.

Hemoprova Chutia, resident of Moran in Dibrugarh who has also received several honours and recognition for her expertise in weaving such as “Bakul Bon award”, “Aai Kanaklata award”, “The State Handloom and Textile award” as well as the “Assam Gaurav award” by the Government of Assam for her excellence towards weaving.

Talking to media persons, president of Dibrugarh Ladies Club Priti Karwa said, “We are very happy to present the Joymati Award 2023 to Padmashree Hemoprova Chutia, who have brought laurels for Assam and revolutionised the weaving industry of Assam,”.
