New Delhi (India), March 4: Dr. Surendra Singh is a well-known political leader as well as a social worker. His works are mainly based in Bikaner, Rajasthan. When asked about his inspiration, Dr. Singh mentioned the names of other legendary leaders of India such as Din Dayal Upadhyay, Ram Manohar Lohiya, JP Narayan, Atal Bihari Bajpayee, Bhairon singh shekhawat and many more. He has read their ideas of socialism, society, moral duties, and nationalism and is trying to shape his own ideas that encompass all such ideas.

INITIAL DAYS AS LEADER

Dr. Surendra Singh was a member of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad even during his early student days. His interest in politics led him to participate in many elections fought at the college level. Not to mention, he successfully won many of them and was the leader of the student union for many years.

One of the major events of his early political days was the Hunger Strike kept by him. Bikaner University was promised to be set up by the central government, but later on, it was postponed. Dr. Surendra Singh went on a hunger strike in 2003 for straight 5 days. Huge support from other local people and politicians forced the government to re-initiate the proposed university again, and Mr. Radhe Shyam Ganganagar, a prominent leader himself, came to end this strike. Today, Bikaner has this multidisciplinary university because of his efforts.

Dr. Surendra Singh has raised his voice against paper leaks and fake recruitment during the Congress government in Rajasthan, demonstrating strength. He appealed to everyone from the chairman of RPSC to the Governor against the fake recruitment that took place during the RPSC 2018 recruitment exam and demanded a CBI investigation into the entire scam. Dr. Surendra Singh emerged as a strong leader in Bikaner with strong public support. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree and later obtained a Ph.D. in Gandhi politics through social reform from Jain Vishwa Bharati Ladnun, along with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Dr. Singh is always aware of contemporary issues and speaks out on issues related to public affairs, writes on political and social issues, and protests. His articles on political and social issues continue to be published in the country’s prestigious newspapers and magazines.

WORKS & ACHIEVEMENTS

On the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Surendra Singh, along with other party members, traveled and visited 150 villages of Bikaner for more than one month. He understood the needs of the local public and tried to resolve their issues in his capacity.

During Corona, his initiative “SANJHA CHULHA” helped many deprived sections to get basic needs. He distributed food and daily essentials to a wider section in need. He even visited hospitals during the peak months of COVID-19. Inspection of hospitals and beds were done by himself. “Public Audit” was done to check the readiness of hospitals in treating the patients with severe symptoms. For his marvelous work, he was called and applauded by the then CM Vasundhara Raje. She also advised him to take all necessary precautions. After this, many big leaders also called him for his extraordinary service at a much-needed time.

The apex education accreditation body has also revised its grading framework, where 74% of the evaluation is carried out by a third party from remote locations. According to the NAAC website, 4201 institutions have been accredited by NAAC across the country, of which only 3% have been awarded A++ grade. Guwahati: The much desired work of completing the extention of runway at Dibrugarh Airport, by merging the existing runway with newly constructed 363 meter portion, thereby taking the total extension to 460 meters, has started on Friday(Mar 3).

To begin the work while meeting the safety norms of civil aviation requirements, at first RESA (Runway Strip & Runway End Safety Area) of 90 meters length and longitudinal runway strip of 60 meters were provided by reducing the declared lengths of runway by 150 meters.

“This resulted into shifting of threshold by 150 meters. This changeover was done in the intervening night of 2nd and 3rd March 2023, and accordingly after the changeover, merging part excavation was started.While visual landing aids (Runway markings, PAPI – Precision Approach Path Indicators, Threshold Lights, Runway Edge Lights and End Lights) have been re-aligned as per new threshold position, the Instrument Landing System will not be available for the duration of merging work,” said an official of AAI.

The changes in characteristics and restrictions accordingly have been published through appropriate NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) in advance for intimation to all operators.

While the NOTAMs have been issued for a period of three months till June 3 2023, the Airport Authority is expecting that with advance preparation it has and with weather helping, the merging project will be completed by April 30, 2023.

With the completion of the project, the length of the runway of Dibrugarh Airport will increase from the current 1,830 meters to 2,290 meters.

Airport officials said that the project will enhance the safety of aircraft operation, lessen the load penalty to the aircraft apart from reducing the minima to operate in low visibility with CAT-I lighting system.

Currently, the construction work of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower is also going on at the airport.

Guwahati: The Multipurpose building, which was sanctioned at Rs 14.08 crore in 2013 was laying incomplete after 10 years.

The Multipurpose buliding is a dream project of Dibrugarh Municipal Board(DMB), which will have a auditorium, marriage hall, conventional gallery and many more but still after 10 years of the construction work has not been completed.

Town and Country planning department of Dibrugarh was the nodal agency of this Multipurpose buliding. The fund for this project was sanctioned under NCLPR(DoNER).

Sources said the previous DMB body lead by chairperson Soma Chakraborty was allegedly involved in malpractise which lead to the delayed of the project.

A Public Interest Litogation(PIL) has also been filed by an lawyer of Dibrugarh regarding the building work.

“It was a total wastage of public money. The building which was constructed for multipurpose. The people of Dibrugarh can take many benefits from this building but due to red-tapism, the construction work of the building has not been completed. The multistorey building will damage soon if construction work has not been started soon,” said a senior citizen of Dibrugarh.

An official of Dibrugarh Municipal Board(DMB) said that they had received Rs 7.2 crore for the project rest of the amount has not been released by the concerned department.

“Rs 7.6 crore is still pending. If the fund will be released then the work of the buliding will be completed soon. The construction work of the building has been going on but during COVID period the work has been stopped and not started yet,” the official said.

Sources said one of the Dibrugarh based contractor has taken the construction work of the building but due to some reason he had left the work halfway.

“If the building will be completed on time then it will be benefitted to the people. Who is responsible for the delaying of the project. The project which was sanctioned during Congress rule but still after several years the work has not been completed,” a conscious citizen asked.

“A meeting was held regarding the releasing of the pending fund which has been allotted for the project but still not getting any assistance from the higher level. We have discussed the matter with the concerned minister and sought his assistance regarding the matter but no help coming from his side,” an official.
