Guwahati: In a tragic incident, police personnel was killed and three others injured in a road accident while performing election-related duties in Nagaland’s Wokha district during the state asembly polls on Monday.

The decesaed police persoonel hailed from Madhya Pradesh.

According to repports, two people have been killed and 18 injured in road accidents while on poll-related duties in the northeastern state during the past 24 hours.

  “A vehicle carrying Madhya Pradesh Police personnel met with an accident near N. Longchum killing a one person on the spot and three others sustained injuries,” said a police official.

The injured were evacuated for medical treatment.

The mortal remains of the deceased were brought back to Wokha district headquarters for further necessary formalities.

The Nagaland assembly polls passed off peacefully with no violence incidents reported from the state.

Guwahati:  Over  82.42 per cent  voter turnout in the Nagaland assembly polls  on Monday, which were held in 59 of the 60 Assembly constituencies.

Heavy security arrangements has been made for free and fair election in the hills state.

According to official, the  polling percentage would likely increase further after the compilation of the reports of the Returning Officers.

Voting started at 7 a.m. in 2,291 polling stations, manned by 11,500 staff. It will end at 4 p.m.

The voting was largely peaceful across the northeastern state except some stay incidents including stone pelting and minor clashes. No major untoward incident has been reported so far.

In Akuk village under the Bhandari Assembly constituency in Wokha district, supporters of a candidate attacked the rival party workers using sharp weapons in which three persons were injured.

BJP candidate Kazheto Kinimi was re-elected unopposed from the Akuluto Assembly constituency after his only opponent and Congress nominee Khekashe Sumi withdrew his candidature.

Polling percentage was 83.85 in the last assembly polls in 2018.

The counting of votes will be held in Nagaland on March 2 along with Meghalaya and Tripura.

Guwahati: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Monday said he is confident that NPP will return power in Meghalaya.

Sangma has contested from South Tura constituency.

The NPP chief after casting his votes at Walbakgre polling station in Tura told reporters that his party will gain the majority mark in the election.

He also expressed gratitude to the people for coming out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.

“It is a wonderful sight for democratic India to see people of the region come out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote. We are confident of coming back to power,” Sangma stated.

NPP is contesting for 57 seats of the total 60 in the seat but has not yet confirmed any post-election alliance that may follow.

Altogether, 3,419 polling stations across 59 Assembly constituencies were set up for the polls.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, 329 candidates, including 32 women, had fought the elections.

FSM’s XXVI Convocation ceremony

New Delhi (India), February 27: FORE School of Management (FSM), New Delhi, held the XXVI Convocation on Friday, Feb 17, 2023. The event was graced by Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director general, International Solar Alliance as the honorable chief guest.

He reported, “The institute achieved 100% placements in record time, with a higher diversity of recruiters. The highest domestic offer for this batch was INR 30 lakhs per annum, and the average and median CTC were INR 14.5 lakhs per annum and INR 14 lakhs per annum, respectively. The summer internship placements also showed improvement, with higher average (the highest stipend being INR 1 lakh per month) and recruitments from notable companies like Barclays, Deloitte, EY, Nestle, Adani Group, and Reliance Retail.”

Dr. Das concluded the report by emphasizing the institute’s commitment to excellence and the need to prepare the students to face the challenges of the rapidly changing business environment.

Emphasizing the importance of the role of faculty, Dr. B.B.L. Madhukar, Chairman said that besides students’ hard work, teachers also deserve credit for their success. In the convocation address, Chief guest Dr. Ajay Mathur acknowledged the role of parents in helping students achieve academic success. He advised graduates to prioritize reskilling to prepare for the significant changes that will occur as AI evolves. He quoted, “Change is the only constant, but your ability to handle change between today and tomorrow is what’s going to differentiate between good and mediocre.”

Dr. Mathur also emphasized the importance of reading and integrating new ideas—and suggested that AI and data capture could be powerful tools for managing the technical and managerial changes we are seeking today. Overall, the need for continual learning and adaptation in the dynamic landscape of business and technology was highlighted in Dr. Mathur’s speech.

Dr. Vinayshil Gautam, Vice-Chairman while proposing a vote of thanks reminded students of the important role that teachers play as constant guides and mentors in the pursuit of knowledge.
